Earth Day is on April 22nd, 2013. Every year, in celebration of Earth Day, GXT Green recognizes organizations that have made significant contributions to sustainability efforts in their individual companies, their communities or to the global community.
For 2013, The GXT Green Honor Roll will be focused only on US based town, county, and state government and public agencies, as well as individual leaders such as mayors, senators, or civic leaders. As an added thank you, GXT Green will offset the carbon footprint for the vehicle of all people who submit a valid nomination with a GXT Green Wheel Seal Medallion. Validity of nominations will be at the sole discretion of GXT Green. One lucky person will be selected to win an Apple iPad Mini loaded with tools to calculate carbon footprint, based on a random drawing of submissions. Rules and regulations are available on the entry form.
“Over the last year, we have seen many town, county, and state governments stepping up their initiatives to improve the environment for their communities,” stated Bob Chatterjee, President and CEO of GXT Green. “This includes alternative energy programs, waste-to-energy and other innovative waste disposal solutions, improved recycling, and meaningful solutions to effectively solve plastic bag and plastic bottle pollution. Thus, for 2013 The GXT Green Earth Day Honor roll will be specifically for governments, community organizations, or leaders of these organizations who have demonstrated the most significant achievements in preserving and protecting our environment. Finalists will be chosen based on leadership, innovation and creativity, promotion of environmental stewardship and how effective they have been in implementing these endeavors.”
In past years GXT Green has honored companies, cities, and individuals who are doing something outstanding for our environment. Honorees last year included retailers, such as Price Chopper, individuals, such as Diana Dehm from the Sustainability News and Entertainment Network, and government groups, such as the Cabarrus County, North Carolina Sustainability Committee.
